The Pont du Diable

The Romanesque bridge "Pont du Diable" leading over the Herault is very impressive. In 1999, the Unesco declared this eldest Romanesque Bridge of France to world cultural heritage. This bridge can be found just before the village "Saint Guilhem le Désert" and the stalactite caves "Grotte de Clamouse".

Here you can swim as well or light up the grill at the shingle beach. There is a canoe rental shop as well. We recommend a short trip by canoe within the narrow gorges of the "Hèrault". This trip does not require you to be a well-trained sportsman. Much fun for children and young persons as well. Sometimes you can observe the usually young bridge jumpers jumping from the bridge which is 20 metres high. Very impressive... Unfortunately, there can be much bustle during the peak season. Nevertheless....it is worth while in any case!
